Deus Ex Gets Officially Reborn With Fan-Made Revision Mod

by Mike Futter on Oct 13, 2015 at 07:07 AM

Square Enix has given its blessing to a fan-made mod for the original Deus Ex, first released in 2000. Developed by Caustic Creative, the Revision mod updates the environments and soundtrack. Best of all, it’s entirely free.

You’ll need a copy of Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition on Steam in order to make the most of it. Thankfully, it’s on sale for $1.39 (80 percent discount).

Also available on sale now through October 16 is Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director’s Cut for $3.99 (also an 80 percent discount). Both games are part of the Steam Stealth Sale this week.

You can check out a trailer for Revision above and download it from Steam here. For more on Deus Ex, check out our recent preview of Mankind Divided and our coverage from May 2015.

Our Take
With the success of Just Cause 2 among the PC mod community, it’s no surprise that Square Enix is embracing it in other ways. If you’ve not played the original Deus Ex, this might help you digest the now-dated visuals.
