Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Campaign Entirely Unlocked From The Start

by Mike Futter on Oct 12, 2015 at 09:39 AM

If you’re the kind of person that prefers to read the last page of a book first, Call of Duty: Black Ops III might be the game for you. Unlike most games, the single-player story won’t be unlocked sequentially. Every chapter will be open from the start.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Treyarch compared the approach to how Netflix rolls out most of its shows. While players will likely opt to play in order, the option will be there from the beginning to jump to specific points in the game.

“The way the story is constructed, it's more than just the end moment,” says Jason Blundell, director of both the campaign and zombies modes. “I’m sure there are many films and other media types where you could read the last page, or see the last minutes, but really you've got to experience all of the other stuff to truly enjoy it."

Our Take
While giving players this option is a great offering for those who want it, the Netflix analogy doesn’t really hold up. Netflix puts all of the episodes online at once so people can binge watch without waiting a week between episodes. It isn’t so much about people hopping around the season out of order.
