2K Announces WWE 2K16 DLC Plans And Season Pass

by Mike Futter on Oct 07, 2015 at 03:11 AM

This year’s WWE title is, as expected, getting a batch of DLC and a season pass. Thankfully, it seems like WWE 2K16 is less confusing than the not-quite-a-season-pass approach the publisher took last year.

With the exception of one item, a booster for MyPlayer characters, all of the items are available in the season pass. The MyPlayer KickStart will cost $9.99, will only be available on Xbox One and PS4, and gives players a way to boost created Superstar’s ratings and attributes.

The other items will be available in a $24.99 season pass, which saves players more than 20 percent over the individual item pricing. Here’s what’s included when the individual packs start rolling out in late 2015 into early next year:

  • Accelerator: Makes available all content normally unlocked through play. Price - $1.99
  • Legends Pack: Big Boss Man, Dusty Rhodes, Lita, Mr. Perfect, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Trish Stratus. Price - $8.99
  • 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase: Seven playable matches. Price - $9.99
    • "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts
    • Rikishi vs. The Rock
    • Alundra Blayze vs. Paige
    • Larry Zbyszko vs. Arn Anderson
    • Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Ric Flair
    • The Bushwhackers (Butch Miller and Luke Williams) vs. The Natural Disasters (Typhoon and Earthquake)
    • The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) vs. Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray)
  • New Moves Pack: 30 Additional moves, including the Corner Enzuigiri, Avalanche Ram, Sidewinder Suplex, Standing Crossface Chickenwing, and Dragon Sleeper. Price - $3.99
  • Future Stars Pack: Somoa Joe, Diego, Fernando, Blake, and Murphy. Price - $7.99

Additionally, there’s an $89.99 version of the game available digitally for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This comes with the game, the season pass, and the MyPlayer Kickstart. The PS4 version comes with a theme.

A PlayStation 3 version of this is priced at $79.99 for the game and season pass, as well as the theme. WWE 2K16 will be out for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 on October 27. For more, check out our recent preview.

Our Take
If you’re going to announce DLC before a game is released, do it like this. Everything is fully detailed, and there’s no mystery about what you’ll get in the season pass. Those digital deluxe editions also offer additional savings, so if you know that you want everything, they seem like the best bet.
