Metal Gear Solid V Has A New Game-Breaking Bug On PS4

by Mike Futter on Sep 30, 2015 at 05:00 AM

The Metal Gear Solid V servers are finally stable. You can take Quiet out on missions without worrying about save-data corruption. You’re all set to play… unless you’re on PlayStation 4.

Konami has flagged a brand new bug for users on Sony’s current-gen console. This time, the issue pops up if you have multiple PSN accounts on a single system and play Metal Gear Solid V on more than one.

If you run into this, you’ll receive an error that indicates that your save data is unusable. The full text of the message can be seen below (click to enlarge):

The publisher also says that the iDroid companion app isn’t working yet for iOS9. If you’ve updated to the new firmware, you won’t have access until a patch is distributed.

On the bright side, Konami says that its servers are now leveled out across the five systems. As a make-right for the problems during the launch period, players will receive bonus items after the October 6 maintenance period.

Our Take
It’s bad enough when a game runs into a single game-breaking bug. This one seems even harder to avoid, as a number of families have multiple PSN/SEN accounts on a single system. You might be better off holding off on playing until a fix is in if you share your PS4 with another PSN user.
