Mass Effect To Get Its Own Theme-Park Attraction

by Joseph Knoop on Sep 29, 2015 at 12:18 PM

California Great America theme park and Electronic Arts are teaming up to bring the Mass Effect experience back to Earth in the form of a new attraction. Visitors will ride Commander Shepard’s ship the SSV Normandy in an experience that blends 3D effects with a live performance.

The ride, curated by a live performer, will take visitors through the Mass Effect universe to a distant planet where they will “face off against larger-than-life foes” in an effort to save the day, according to BioWare's blog. The ride will also incorporate both 3D and 4D effects, which traditionally means the inclusion of rumble chairs and some level of movement.

The currently untitled ride will open in a renovated Action Theatre, which previously contained Mumble’s Wild Ride, based on the 2006 film Happy Feet. The ride is expected to open in 2016 at the park’s location in Santa Clara, Calif.
