NBA Live 16 Demo Misses The Likeness Layup

by Matthew Kato on Sep 21, 2015 at 10:43 AM

The NBA Live 16 demo is out, and it contains some hilarious examples of player likenesses gone very wrong.

Screens of players from the demo take significant racial and cosmetic liberties that make you wonder what the developer was thinking.

Luke Babbitt of the New Orleans Pelicans gets hit with the double wammy. Not only is Babbitt white in real life, but he also sports a healthy mane of hair – neither of which are depicted in the game apparently.

Jason Smith of the Orlando Magic similarly does not appear at all like his in-game likeness.

Finally, the model for Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis was cloned and used for the Lakers' Larry Nance Jr. (shot by CBS Sports' Zach Harper) – although Nance looses some OVR in the translation.

Our Take
We can only hope that developer EA Tiburon can make some changes to these and any other likeness for the game when it comes out on September 29.
