Learn About The Wii's Kid Icarus Reboot Starring An Adult Pit That Never Left The Prototype Stages

by Kyle Hilliard on Sep 19, 2015 at 07:44 AM

Rumors and concept art for Factor 5's Kid Icarus game has been floating around the Internet for some time, but a new video helps to tell the full story of the game that never left the prototype stages.

Factor 5, renowned for the Rogue Squadron series and infamous for the PlayStation 3 exclusive, Lair, did some conceptual work on a Kid Icarus game for the Wii before Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS was in development. YouTube channel Tamaki in affiliation with Unseen64 gathered all of the available details for the game to showcase what little work of the prototype exists, as well as why the game never left the early prototype stages. You can see the video below.

Unseen64 specializes in uncovering details of unreleased, or in this, unmade video games. It recently detailed another cancelled Wii game, Project H.A.M.M.E.R., which you can learn more about here.

Our Take
The idea that Nintendo simply didn't like what Factor 5 delivered makes a lot of sense. I am not opposed to the idea of an older, more mature Kid Icarus who learned to survive after being outcast from his world, but after his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it was pretty clear what Nintendo had in mind for the future of its angelic archer.
