Nintendo Directs Will Resume In The Future
Following the untimely passing of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, the company has temporarily suspended its fan-focused videos. Nintendo Directs often featured Iwata making announcements and revealing new games, and following his death, it was unclear whether they would continue.
The publisher has confirmed to IGN that it plans to bring back the Nintendo Direct format. However, there are no announcements at this time about timing or who would be leading them.
Nintendo recently named Iwata’s successor, former Nintendo of America president Tatsumi Kimishima. The company also confirmed a reorganization that brings together its EAD and SPD studios, while also giving longtime company leaders Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda advisory “fellow” roles.

Our Take
When we received a huge info dump of release dates and announcements earlier this month, I couldn’t help but recognize that the details would normally have been presented by Iwata in a Direct. Fans enjoy the format, and Nintendo certainly keeps us on our toes with them.
