Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Coming In November On PC For Optimization Purposes

by Mike Futter on Aug 26, 2015 at 10:29 AM

While the console versions of this year’s Assassin’s Creed title are slated for a late October release, the PC version will be coming along about a month later. Ubisoft has announced the release date and preliminary technical details, though the final spec sheet isn’t yet finalized.

Following last year’s catastrophic release of Assassin’s Creed Unity (complete with the now-infamous “missing face” bug), the publisher is taking more time to get things right this year. “We have introduced several new improvements to our production pipeline and validation process, which allowed us to focus on polishing, stabilizing and optimizing the PC version very early on in the project,” says Ubisoft Kiev production manager Sam Kovalev. “This has been one of the top priorities for the production team this year.”

For those wondering how the game will fare on their systems, Ubisoft offers the basics for now. When the recommended specs are released, they will be with a 1080p/30 frames-per-second benchmark in mind.

Framerate and resolution are said to have “no locks.” The PC version will be along on November 19. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions launch on October 23. For more, check out our recent coverage.

Our Take
Ubisoft needs to make sure that all three versions are fully baked and ready to go. Last year was a disaster for the gaming industry, and Ubisoft in particular. The publisher can’t suffer another blow to the series and consumer trust. Syndicate needs to shine.
