After the “Great Mistake,” humanity took to the stars to colonize new worlds. Civilization: Beyond Earth brings the classic series to alien planets, filled with creatures and environmental hazards not seen before in the franchise.

If you’ve been wondering how this installment of the series plays, you can take it for a test drive this weekend. From now through Monday, you can play Beyond Earth for free on Steam.

If you like what you see, you can purchase the game for 50 percent off ($19.99) or in two bundles. For $25.19, you’ll also get Civilization III Complete, Civilization IV, and Civilization V. Alternatively, you can spend $20.99 to get Beyond Earth and Sid Meier’s Starships. The deals and free play window are in effect through Monday, August 17, at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern. 

Additionally, the upcoming Rising Tide expansions for Beyond Earth will release on October 9. It’s priced at $29.99, but those that pre-order can take advantage of a 10 percent discount.
