Fallout Shelter Arrives On Android, Molerats And Deathclaws Attack All Versions

by Mike Futter on Aug 13, 2015 at 03:38 AM

The nuclear apocalypse has finally begun for Android users. After two months of watching iOS owners fawn over Bethesda’s free-to-play Fallout Shelter, it’s time for more people to start building a Vault.

In the first two weeks, players spent over $5 million on Lunchboxes, which hold cards for weapons, unique Dwellers, and more. With the release on another platform (and Fallout fever still running rampant), Bethesda stands to cash in all over again.

For more on Fallout Shelter, be sure to check out our review and a crucial tip for the early game. You can also read a conversation between Joe Juba and Tim Turi about the game's addicting magic.

Update: Bethesda is also updating the game to give us more of a challenge. In addition to Radroach infestations, players will have to deal with Molerats burrowing into rooms. Players will also want to beef up their Vault door defenses, as bandits aren't the only thing on the attack. Watch out when the Deathclaws come a-knocking.

There's also a new premium reward in the form of Fallout 4's Mr. Handy. He can collect resources for you inside your Vault and out in the Wasteland.

Our Take
Fallout Shelter’s challenge definitely comes in the early phase. After that, it’s a matter of knowing when to pull your exploring Dwellers back from the wasteland. Reviving them costs an exorbitant amount of caps and can set you back, so as long as you’re cautious, it can be a relaxing experience.
