Update: We've corrected a previous mistake stating that DriveClub had surpassed $2 million in sales. It has sold two million units.

Original Story: The PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game, DriveClub, has hit a sales milestone, says game directory Paul Rustchynsky on Twitter.

The two million units sold include both digital and physical versions of the social media-integrated driving game, and were achieved before the free PlayStation Plus version hit. Take a look at the shiny commemorative wall decoration Evolution Studios received above.

DriveClub had a tumultuous development history with talent changes and multiple delays. The game was originally promised to PS4 PlayStation Plus users as a free download, though that version wasn't released until last June – a full nineteen months after it was originally promised.

Evolution Studios has updated and tweaked the game since the paid version first released in October 2014, and you can read up on those changes here

Our Take
It's impossible not to wonder whether DriveClub would've surpassed two million in sales if DriveClub was available for free on PlayStation Plus when the developer initially promised.
