by Mike Futter on Jul 30, 2015 at 08:27 AM

Capcom is among the companies reporting strong performance for its most recently completed quarter. The company began the fiscal year with a strong start, with increases in sales, operating income, and net income.

Sales increased by 51.9 percent, operating income by 59.8 percent, and net income by nearly 105 percent during the period. During the same quarter last year, the company reported a net loss of ¥765 million ($ ). This year, income checked in at ¥1.6 billion ($ ).

Capcom cites strong sales of Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition as a driver of its performance. The company notes that its online and mobile titles didn’t bring in as much, largely due to a lack of major releases.

Our Take
With Capcom soliciting feedback about a potential Resident Evil 2 remake, the company clearly knows that fans will buy updated versions of its past hits. With Resident Evil Zero HD and Street Fighter V coming (both likely to be huge performers), Capcom just needs to keep the blend of classic revivals and new titles in balance.
