Capcom Wants Your Honest And Frank Opinion About A Resident Evil 2 Remake

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 29, 2015 at 03:42 PM

Capcom recently put out a call on the official Resident Evil Facebook page for fans to explain why it should remake Resident Evil 2.

On the Resident Evil Facebook page Capcom opens the floor for comments with the following:

Hello Resident Evil fans!

This is Capcom R&D Division 1!

First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.

Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we've been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.

However, as the team owns the RE brand, we're not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?

If you want to comment on the thread, you can do so by heading here.

Our Take
This seems like less of a question of should Capcom take the time to do a remake of Resident Evil 2, and more of a question of, if we were to do it, what would you like about it? At least, that's what I think they are asking. The phrasing regarding what the brand identity should be about is strange. All Capcom needs to know is that the Resident Evil Remake that released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was the biggest opening in PSN history and that it sold over a one million downloads. I really don't know why there are any other questions after that.
