Street Fighter V Beta Fails To Launch

by Matt Miller on Jul 24, 2015 at 06:32 AM

Like many gamers, we were looking forward to diving into the Street Fighter V beta set to begin yesterday evening. Unfortunately, the game ran into some technical problems for the first few users who got in, and Capcom has chosen to shut down the beta until the issues are resolved.

“We apologize for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the SFV beta test,” read a comment we received from Capcom. "In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users. We will let you know the date on which the closed beta test will re-open once all problems have been fixed. We sincerely apologize for having to bring this unfortunate news to you. Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

Street Fighter V is targeting release in early 2016 on PS4 and PC.

Our Take
It’s a bummer that Capcom has been forced to halt the beta right after it launched, but the real point of a beta is to target and fix potential problems before the game is out to paying customers. Capcom is doing the right thing by fixing connectivity and login issues and targeting a later date for the beta experience.
