Join The Beta For NHL 16's EA Sports Hockey League

by Matthew Kato on Jul 22, 2015 at 07:23 AM

Starting on July 30, NHL 15 owners on the new-gen systems can download the beta for NHL 16's online team 6v6 mode, EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL).

The beta is limited access, and ends on August 6. For players of the old-gen versions of NHL 15, if you own a PS4 or Xbox One but not the new-gen version of NHL 15, you can opt-in for a chance to receive a beta code (click on the official link below).

The EASHL in NHL 16 features a class system (with a dozen classes) instead of the old player progression system, online seasons through 10 divisions, and player appearance customization.

As far as carrying over your progress in the beta to the main game, EA says that stats, teams, and customized player appearances won't carry over, but the skills you and your team learn will.

For more on the beta, including an FAQ, check out EA Sports' official site. For more info on EASHL and the rest of the game, check out this exhaustive preview.

NHL 16 comes out September 15 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Our Take
Given the mode was missing last year, a beta is a great idea.
