Tonight's Cake Wars Episode Features Mario-Themed Cakes

by Hershall Cook on Jul 20, 2015 at 10:15 AM

Tonight's episode of Cake Wars features a video game inspired twist: the show's contestants will be baking Mario-themed cakes. The best cake earns its owner $10,000, with Nintendo's Krysta Yang on hand to help determine who takes home the prize. When not judging cake quality, Yang works as a public relations assistant for Nintendo of America.

As per usual, four contestants have been selected for the competition.  Each contestant will prepare a cake for a Mario Maker party, but only the winner will "accompany their cake to the massive celebration." We expect these cakes to look impressive, but it remains to be seen whether they top Tracy Rockwell's Mario Kart cake or Mario's 25th Anniversary cake.

If you would like to watch, tune in to the Food Network at 8 EST.

Dedicated fans order video game cakes with surprising frequency. Housemarque created a cake to celebrate the release of Resogun, and Rocksteady sent a Mortal Kombat cake to NetherRealm Studios.
