Unused Crash Bandicoot Animated Intro Looks Like A Saturday Morning Cartoon

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 19, 2015 at 05:22 AM

A video recently posted online showing a Crash Bandicoot animation that looks like it could be the intro to a never-aired cartoon series, but evidence points to it being an unused element of the game.

The description for the video reads, "This was thought to be a cartoon series, however this was actually unused cutscenes from the first game," and it thanks Crash Bandicoot prodcer David Siller for allowing the video to be uploaded.

According to a quote from Siller on Crashmania.net, "It was based on ideas for where we were going with this IP at that time. It was probably too ambitious in nature and was also trying to be humorous. It was never used or even embedded in the game as a hidden 'easter egg' treat. Once UIS licensed the game to Sony for publication, Sony did not want it utilized since they were heavily pushing the '3D' agenda." The two segments of the animation were apparently supposed to be used as the game's intro and ending, according to the Crashmania's article.
