Magic Duels: Origins Launches Today For iPhone And iPad

by Hershall Cook on Jul 08, 2015 at 10:43 AM

Magic Duels: Origins released today for iOS mobile platforms, marking the first time Magic: The Gathering has appeared on iPhone. Developer Wizards of the Coast also plans to release this title on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4.

Magic Duels: Origins shifts away from its predecessor, Duels of the Planeswalker, in that it looks much more complex. Along with the change in complexity, Origins offers a free-to-play experience. Duels of the Planeswalker, on the other hand, costs $9.99 with a few booster packs available for purchase.

Origins arrives on Xbox One and PC this month, with a PlayStation 4 launch coming later this year. For more information on the title itself, check out our preview.

Our Take:
I never learned how to play Magic: The Gathering, mostly because I was too cheap to spend a lot of money buying cards. Maybe I'll give this title a shot.
