Bungie Celebrates Destiny’s First Year With Prize For Loyal Players

by Mike Futter on Jul 08, 2015 at 02:50 AM

The number seven has long been important to Bungie and its fans, with the studio going so far as to claim July 7 (7/7) as its own. Yesterday, the studio celebrated with a look back at Destiny’s first 10 months with something special planned for fans.

The Taken King, supposedly Destiny’s largest expansion yet, arrives September 15 to kick off the game’s second year. From now until then, Bungie is offering players a chance to earn an in-game reward commemorating the first 12 months of play.

In order to earn the year one emblem, you’ll need to complete 10 “moments of triumph.” If you’ve been playing, you’ve likely earned some of these (with diehards already getting credit for the entire list upon announcement). Here’s what you’ll need to do before September 11:

  • Apprentice of Light - Reach level 20
  • Light of the Garden - Defeat the heart of the Black Garden (story missions)
  • Light in the Dark - Prevent the summoning of Crota’s soul (The Dark Below story missions)
  • Light of the Reef - Captured Skolas in the Vex Citadel (House of Wolves)
  • Bane of Skolas - Defeat Prison of Elders on Hard Difficulty (House of Wolves)
  • Bane of Atheon - Defeat Atheon on Hard Difficulty (Vault of Glass raid)
  • Bane of Crota - Defeat Crota on Hard Difficulty (Crota’s End raid)
  • Public Servant - Complete 50 Public Events
  • Crucible Gladiator - Win 100 Crucible Matches
  • Chest Hunter - Find all 20 golden chests scattered throughout the game

The emblem looks like the moments of triumph “map" (above), with all circles filled in yellow. Good luck finishing up your tasks.

Our Take
With two months left, you could pull this off even if you’ve never played Destiny. Just be grateful that you don’t have to find the dead ghosts as part of this.
