Red Bull Offering Timed Exclusive DLC Destiny Mission
Usually when we talk about soft drinks and video games, it’s Mountain Dew and Call of Duty that are paired up. Activision is branching out a bit this year, partnering up with Red Bull to deliver bonus experience and a unique mission for Destiny’s The Taken King expansion this fall.
We first reported on the partnership from leaked photos earlier in June. Today, we have details on what you’ll get from Red Bull (besides wings).
Marked cans will give players bonus experience that can be used immediately. There is also an in-game quest that will be made available once The Taken King expansion launches on September 15 and accessible through codes found on Red Bull packaging. After January 1, the mission will be available to all.
The special packaging will arrive at 7-11 locations in July and other outlets beginning in August. The four-pack packaging we reported on earlier will include a bigger experience boost, but won’t be available until closer to the expansion launch at Walmart.
This kind of partnership for bonus experience is old hat for Activision. The exclusive mission is something different, though. Whether its worth playing is something we won’t be able to comment on until September, of course. Maybe get a can of Red Bull just in case this is something you end up wanting to play.
