A few months ago, legendary quarterback Joe Montana made waves when he posted the above screenshot on social media, teasing followers to stay tuned for a new entry to the long-dormant Joe Montana Football series. The announcement of a possible contender to Madden's football monopoly was major news, but today's platform reveal may quash some of that excitement.
In an interview with Epic Games' Dana Cowley (Joe Montana Football is running on the Unreal 4 Engine), Superstar Games CEO Damon Grow announced that the game will be coming first to iOS, followed later by Android and PC. A new website for the game has also popped up, where players can sign up for updates on the alpha release.

Montana Football is a mobile game is undoubtedly a disappointment to fans
looking for an alternative to Madden, but Superstar appears to be treating it
as a first step to bringing back the franchise. Who knows? If it's popular it
could lead to a larger console experience in the future. That issue aside, it's
also worth noting that Joe Montana Football looks pretty darn good for a mobile
game.
