Shenmue 3 Funded In Under 13 Hours
Remember yesterday when we informed you that Shenmue 3 was heading to Kickstarter? The game's $2,000,000 goal has been met in less than a day.
Sony announced Shenmue 3 last night around 9:00pm, meaning the action-adventure game has raised $2,426,424 in around thirteen hours. That computes to $186,648 an hour and $4,497,552 per day. If Shenmue 3 were to somehow keep this ridiculous pace going, it would finish its 31-day fundraising campaign with $138,866,112, making Shenmue 3's budget larger than Zimbabwe's GDP. More importantly, this kind of cash flow would allow Yu Suzuki to buy a low-end Ferrari every sixty minutes.
Despite already breaking into the top ten most-funded video games on Kickstarter – the number one spot on that list belongs to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – Shenmue 3 has not yet hit any stretch goals. You know what that means: Pull out your wallets and get donating!
Our Take:
Shenmue 3 will no doubt falter from this pace, but the game's early showings are impressive. Maybe Zimbabwe should invest.
