Retailer Listing Reveals Xbox One With 1 TB Hard Drive, New Xbox One Controller

by Mike Futter on Jun 05, 2015 at 07:52 AM

Last week, we reported on an Xbox support page with images of a new controller. The change noted in the diagram is the addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack to circumvent the need for a chat dongle.

Today, Amazon has published a listing for a $399.99 Xbox One console with a 1 TB hard drive and the new version of the controller. When reached for comment, Microsoft told us the same thing it did when we asked about the new controller last week.

"We’re gearing up for an exciting E3 where we’ll showcase more games and experiences," a representative told us. "We have nothing further to share at this time.”

Yesterday, we published a feature about how Microsoft can improve its E3 performance over last year. One of our points was giving us a new Xbox One with a 1 TB drive without raising the price. It looks like that will be happening and soon. Amazon lists the release date as June 15, 2015, the date of Microsoft's E3 press conference.

Our Take
I put this on my list of items in yesterday's feature, and I'm glad to see this realized. Given the size of current-generation installs, this is a good move, especially since users can't install larger hard drives on their own. The Xbox One does support external storage, however.
