Spike Lee Involvement, Three Cover Athletes Confirmed For NBA 2K16

by Matt Bertz on Jun 03, 2015 at 07:08 PM

Today 2K Sports confirmed a rumor that floated through the websphere last April – He Got Game director Spike Lee is taking the reins of the MyCareer story mode for NBA 2K16.

Today several newspaper outlets are reporting that the longtime basketball fan has shot 90 minutes of "cinematic narrative" for the popular story mode, which places players in the role of an up and coming basketball star named Frequency Vibrations. "We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," Lee told USA Today.

2K Sports also revealed the trio of NBA stars gracing the cover of the game this year – Houston Rockets guard James Harden, New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis, and reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors, who squares off against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals starting tonight.

Our Take
Given the rough acting showcased in last year's mode, we think brining in a skilled director like Spike Lee can only help the addictive MyCareer mode. We're excited to see the story he wants to tell.
