Reader Discussion: How Have Video Games Shaped Your Life?
We're all video game fans for different reasons. Let's hear what brought you into the hobby, discussing the larger impact video games have had on you.
Today my colleague, Brian Shea, wrote a very personal piece about how video games have shaped his life. It got me to thinking about how we all come to love things for different reasons. I thought it would be cool to share what brought us all into the hobby, some of our favorite video game memories, and the larger impact video games have had on our lives. I have more than I count, from playing Secret of Mana with my grandpa to besting Maniac Mansion with my brothers. More so, without games, I wouldn't have the amazing opportunity that I do to write about them. I always feel very fortunate for that.
So, how have video games shaped your life? Has it been as simple as just having a fun outlet, or have they brought you closer together with people? I feel like this post will have many different responses, and that's what's wonderful about it.
