No Companion App For Assassin's Creed Syndicate

by Matthew Kato on May 28, 2015 at 04:22 AM

Ubisoft has seemingly heard the hue and cry over Assassin's Creed Unity's companion app, and axed the functionality from this fall's AC Syndicate.

Eurogamer has received confirmation from Ubisoft that this year's AC Syndicate title will not have a companion app – the first game in the series not to have one in a while. Unity had a companion app, but its exclusive content via chests was eventually made available to everyone through a post-release patch.

"...The team wanted to focus all their efforts on the core experience," a spokesperson told the website.

For more on the game (which releases on October 23), check out our interview with Syndicate's creative director, Marc-Alexis Côté, as well as our feature: Five Things You Should Know About Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

Our Take
Given how obnoxious the companion app for Assassin's Creed Unity was in filling your map up with stuff you could only access with the app, we can't complain about this.
