EA Head Of Mobile Games Frank Gibeau Leaves Company After More Than 20 Years
EA has filed notice with the Securities and Exchange Commission that as of yesterday, executive vice president of mobile games Frank Gibeau has departed the company. Gibeau was with EA for over 20 years, and served as the president of EA Labels before his transition to overseeing the lucrative mobile division.
An email sent to staff by CEO Andrew Wilson praises Gibeau’s service to the company. “Throughout a more than 20-year career, Frank’s made many significant contributions to the company, our people and our games,” Wilson writes. “Most recently, he’s worked to strengthen EA Mobile by building a great team. We’d like to thank Frank for his achievements at EA, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
We reached out to EA for additional comment, EA confirmed the transition and echoed Wilson’s note to staff. Gibeau also shared a prepared statement on the matter.
“It’s been a really great ride, the best job ever, jam-packed with incredible life experiences and filled with many great friends,” he writes. “After an incredible 20 year career, I've accomplished all that I could have imagined and more. I’m very proud of all the great games that I had a chance to work on. I thank EA for the opportunity and wish them the very best. I am excited to explore my next challenge.”

Listening in on EA earnings calls, its clear that Gibeau had an enormous impact on the mobile division. While there were certainly missteps like Dungeon Keeper, games like Simpson’s Tapped Out, mobile sports titles, and smartphone Sims games are bringing in huge money for the publisher.
