New Super Mario Bros. And Mega Man Battle Network 3 Now Available On Wii U Virtual Console

by Brian Shea on May 16, 2015 at 05:46 AM

Handheld games from the past take over the Wii U Virtual Console this week. In addition to Nintendo bringing the classic platformer New Super Mario Bros. from the Nintendo DS, Capcom's Mega May continues with two of Mega Man's simultaneous Game Boy Advance releases.

You can now grab New Super Mario Bros. for your Wii U for $9.99, while Mega Man Battle Network 3 White and Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue are available for $7.99 each. New Super Mario Bros. was released in 2006 on Nintendo DS and served as a throwback to the original style of Super Mario Bros. games with several visual and gameplay enhancements. The game was so successful that it spawned successors on Wii and Wii U, and a true sequel on the 3DS in 2012.

Mega Man Battle Network 3 White/Blue are two real-time tactical RPGs released at the same time in 2002 on Game Boy Advance. The two versions are the same in terms of gameplay and content, but each version presents players with different items within the game.

Our Take
New Super Mario Bros. is obviously a pretty big release for fans of Nintendo's portly plumber, and more Mega Man is always a welcomed addition to any Virtual Console library. Nintendo has been doing a good job of churning out classic titles on Wii U Virtual Console these past few weeks. Hopefully it can keep this momentum up now that Nintendo 64 and DS games are now able to make the jump to Nintendo's most recent console.
