Coming off of a standout rookie year on the New York Giants, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has landed a spot as the cover athlete for Madden NFL 16. Beckham Jr. beat out Patriots' dominant tight end Rob Gronkowski for the cover.

At age 22, Beckham Jr. is now the youngest player to ever appear on the cover of the Madden series. Last year, Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks graced the cover. In previous years, players like Ray Lewis, Brett Favre, Marshall Faulk, Donovan McNabb, and Drew Brees have appeared on the box art.

Madden NFL 16 hits stores August 25. We expect to learn more about what this year's version brings to the table when E3 rolls around this June. You can check out the full shot of Odell Beckham Jr. on the Madden NFL 16 cover below.

Our Take
Known for his incredible one-handed catch last year, Beckham Jr. is an electric player and a perfect fit for the Madden cover. It is surprising that a player so young could beat all of the veterans in the field, but it goes to show how strong his rookie season was.
