505 Games To Publish Overkill’s The Walking Dead On Current-Gen Consoles
We first learned of Overkill’s take on The Walking Dead universe at Gamescom 2014. Now, that title has a publisher and a slate of planned platforms.
Starbreeze, which owns Overkill, announced a publishing deal with 505 Games. This isn’t the first time the companies have teamed up, with the Payday series evidence of their combined success.
The deal gives Starbreeze a licensing fee of $10 million, with further royalties after the game arrives to market. Overkill’s The Walking Dead is still slated for a 2016 release. It is planned for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Our Take
Given the past success of this partnership with Payday 2 (and, later, the sale of the Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons IP), a repeat performance makes sense. With the prevalence of zombie games (and even those in The Walking Dead universe), Overkill has its work cut out to make something unique and appealing.
