BBC Grand Theft Auto Drama To Star Daniel Radcliffe And Bill Paxton

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 22, 2015 at 05:17 AM

The BBC has confirmed a number of new details about its drama based on the controversy surrounding Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto, including casting.

Previously, "in talks," it is now confirmed that Daniel Radcliffe will play Rockstar Game co-founder and president Sam Houser. Bill Paxton is also confirmed to be part of the cast and will be playing outspoken attorney and Rockstar Games rival, Jack Thompson.

The drama is tentatively titled Game Changer and will be a 90-minute drama, "conceived for an adult audience." It's unclear exactly when Game Changer will take place in Rockstar's timeline, but with Jack Thompson appearing as a character, it's safe to assume it will take place around the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the Hot Coffee mod when Thompson was at his most vocal.

It's unclear how involved Rockstar as in the drama's documentary, but we've reached out for comment from the developer. For more on the BBC's GTA drama, head here.

Our Take
The history of Grand Theft Auto and its developer is certainly one ripe for dramatization. I'm curious to see it and I like the actors who have been cast. I hope they stick closely to the facts and don't go off the rails for the sake of storytelling, however.
