[Update] Square Enix 'Can't Kill Progress' Reveal Continues

by Mike Futter on Apr 07, 2015 at 07:05 AM

Update (April 7, 1:05 p.m. Eastern): The interrogation continues, and now we have a new clue. The man in the picture above has a very unique-looking right arm. The next segment is scheduled for 3 p.m. Pacific / 6 p.m. Eastern today.

Update (April 6, 1:03 p.m. Eastern): The first piece of Square Enix's reveal is live on the Can't Kill Progress Twitch channel. Now we know what the "CKP" stands for.

Original Story:

Square Enix announced on Friday that it will be kicking off a three-day game reveal on Twitch today. Not much information has been provided, other than the title is under development at a Western studio.

No specific time for the reveal has been announced, but we’ll be keeping an eye on the company’s Twitch channel. Notable in the image above is the logo in the lower left.

“Project CKP” doesn’t ring any bells, but a cursory search online provides a couple of possible results. There’s a banking company called “CKP Project Services Limited” found via LinkedIn, a Campus Kitchens Project at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and something called The Community Knowledge Project that appears to be based in southern California.

The latter “addresses the systems and structures of inequality in which all humans and non-humans live.” While it sounds like fodder for a game (especially the non-humans part) and the information about who is behind it is sparse, there is a PayPal link to donate. That last item is either a really great touch added to a viral marketing site (it leads to PayPal) or this organization might just not be terribly good at sharing relevant information.

Check back with us later as we share what we learn.

Our Take
I’m not a big fan of long-lead reveals, as they typically tend to underestimate the audience. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the combined power of the Internet’s sleuths figure out what this is immediately.
