Five Nights At Freddy's Film Adaptation In The Works

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 07, 2015 at 02:35 PM

Five Night's at Freddy's, the horror series inspired by the animatronic anthropomorphic animals of Chuck E. Cheese's, is getting turned into a movie.

The project is very much in its infancy, according to Hollywood Reporter, but it sounds like the series' creator, Scott Cawthon, will be involved. Writers, actors, directors, etc. have not been announced, but producers are in place. Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment as well as Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions will produce the film. Lee's producing credits include the Poltergeist and Oldboy remakes, as well as American horror remakes The Ring and The Grduge, among many others. Grahame-Smith wrote the scripts for Tim Burton's Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Katzenberg's credits mostly include TV comedies like The Goldbergs.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, in it players must survive a night in a haunted, abandoned children's pizza and entertainment restaurant by watching the haunted animatronics on security cameras. You can see us play Five Nights at Freddy's 3 in a recent episode of Test Chamber below.

Our Take
I write off most video game to movie adaptations, but something about this project just seems like a great fit. I'm not even really into horror films in general, but this seems like it could absolutely work.
