Second Halo 5: Guardians Hunt The Truth Audio Log Available Now

by Mike Futter on Apr 06, 2015 at 04:33 AM

Last week, Microsoft and 343 Industries unveiled two versions of a Halo 5: Guardians trailer with the Master Chief and Spartan Locke. At the same time, they launched an in-universe series of audio logs from the perspective of a journalist assigned to write profile of the Master Chief.

As we know from the trailers, John-117 might be a traitor (or at least that’s what Microsoft wants us to believe right now). The reporter, Benjamin Giroud, seems to be pulling at a thread that debunks the myth of heroism surrounding the Master Chief.

The Hunt the Truth website includes more than just the three audio logs released so far. There are documents and communications from inside the Halo universe (a narrative tactic the franchise has gotten right throughout its history).

You can check out the prologue along with the first two episodes on the official website. Halo 5: Guardians will arrive on October 27 for Xbox One.

Our Take
Microsoft, Bungie, and 343 Industries have done a solid job of creating narrative context for the Halo series. The i love bees alternate reality game preceding Halo 2, the Halo 3 diorama, and live action trailers for ODST are just some examples of how Microsoft has built up the Halo mythos.
