Nintendo Doubles Down On Amiibo Gaffes A Day After Melting Retailer Websites

by Mike Futter on Apr 03, 2015 at 10:25 AM

Earlier today, we shared reactions to a Nintendo of America tweet asking fans what Amiibo they wanted in their Easter basket. As if the vitriolic reaction to that wasn’t enough, Nintendo is going all-in on the trolling.

Shulk, one of the Amiibo figures in the last wave, was a GameStop exclusive (Disclaimer: GameStop is Game Informer’s parent company). That character sold out quickly, which only stings more because he is the only Amiibo compatible with the upcoming release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D on the New 3DS.

Yesterday, Amiibogeddon took down the GameStop website. As you might expect, especially after this morning, the responses to Nintendo's latest poke aren’t terribly kind.

Those of you hoping for a Shulk Amiibo, we feel your pain. Fight on, Amiibo hunting brothers and sisters. Fight on.
