Interactive Banjo-Kazooie Experience Opens The SXSW Game Awards
This year, the SXSW Video Game Awards opened with an interactive Banjo-Kazooie experience.
It wasn't built by Rare, and it's unclear if it will ever be an actual video game available to consumers, but it was interactive and it featured never-before-seen Banjo-Kazooie "gameplay" that the audience at the show was able to participate with.
Thanks to @AudienceE for creating a great experience exclusively for the crowd at the @SXSWGaming Awards tonight! #SXSWGaming

The experience was built by a company called Audience Entertainment, a company that specializes in creating interactive experiences for large audiences, in partnership with Rare.
You can see video of the experience at the beginning of the Twitch archive of the awards or in the video below. The sound was removed from the section of the stream, and consequently our video, due to a copyright claim made on the footage.

Our Take
The appearance of this... thing... is especially odd considering all the news today of the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor from a group of former Rare developers. It doesn't seem like this is in the works as an actual Kinect game, but if it is, I think many would be disappointed to not play a more substantial game with the Banjo-Kazooie license.
