PlayStation 4 Update 2.50 To Add Suspend/Resume Functions And More

by Kyle Hilliard on Mar 11, 2015 at 03:29 PM

The next update for for the PlayStation 4, version 2.50 (titled Yukimura) adds a couple of worthwhile features to the console – like the ability to quickly boot up your game.

You can find the full details of the update here (which isn't available yet, but should be soon), but here are the big takeaways. After the update, you will be able to suspend your games to quickly jump right back in after putting your console in sleep mode. The system will also automatically grab a screenshot whenever you get a trophy making it easier to share.

Other upcoming integrations include better Facebook integration, the ability to upgrade Sub-accounts to Master accounts, Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps, expanded accessibility options, and the ability to upload video to Dailymotion.

Again, you can find all the details here.

Our Take
I still have a healthy love for trophies (and achievements) so I am excited about the console automatically grabbing screens of my accomplishments. I am not going to lie – when I got the Platinum trophy for Infamous Second Son, I carefully lined up an attractive camera and waited until I saw the alert appear on screen and quickly grabbed a screenshot. I wanted two memories of my trophy – the trophy listing, and a screenshot.
