[Update] Motiga’s MOBA, Gigantic, Will Have Cross-Play Between PC And Xbox One

by Mike Futter on Mar 04, 2015 at 09:22 AM

Update: Motiga has provided more information about the new partnership with Microsoft. The studio says that players will be able to use an account system to use their purchases and continue progress across the two platforms.

Additionally, while cross-play is available, it isn't a requirement. Players can choose not to opt-in if they would prefer to restrict their teammates and opponents to the same platform.

Motiga says that the versions will be the same except in places where it makes sense to diverge them, for instance with regard to controls. Controllers are supported on both platforms. PC users can also choose to play with mouse and keyboard, which won't be available on Xbox One.

For more, you can check out the trailer we've added below.

Original Story:

At GDC, Phil Spencer announced that Motiga’s in-development MOBA, Gigantic, is coming to Xbox One. Not only that, but it will follow in Fable Legends’ footsteps with cross-play with PC.

This marks the second big get for Microsoft in the MOBA space. Hi-Rez Studios’ Smite is en route to console, also.

The difference here is that while both support cross-buy, Gigantic will work to find a balance across platforms. Motiga's MOBA also changes up the formula, with no regularly spawning minion waves.

You can read Dan Tack's impressions from PAX 2014 for more information. We’ll be seeing the title at PAX East and will report more on its current status this weekend.
