Ultimate Parkour Fails Remind Us Mirror’s Edge And Dying Light Are Harder Than They Look
Last generation, Mirror’s Edge and Assassin’s Creed introduced parkour, a form of stylish urban movement, to video gaming. This gave people who thought they could skate like Tony Hawk or ride like Dave Mirra a chance to hurt themselves all over again.
Over the years, free running has become a more common part of traversal in gaming. And, the more frequently it appears, the more likely someone is to think that if it looks easy in a game, it must be easy in real life.
The video below, a painful compilation of parkour fails, reminds us that the human body is fragile. We do not have reset buttons, we can only set bones. We don’t have checkpoints, we can only get neurological checks after head trauma.
So, the next time you get it in your head that you’re Faith or Ezio, maybe put on some pads. And then sit down, pick up a controller, and avoid doing something that will land your untrained self in the hospital.
