Assassin’s Creed Golden Age Isn’t A Leaked Game And You’ve Already Played It

by Mike Futter on Feb 13, 2015 at 04:03 AM

Earlier today, reports emerged that Ubisoft had accidentally leaked the name of a new Assassin’s Creed game. It would have been a careless error, as the game subtitled "Golden Age" appeared in a company recruitment brochure.

We reached out to Ubisoft to find out what was going on and received a candid answer. “Before we officially announce a game to the world, we use a working title or code name to refer to a project internally,” a company representative told us. “Assassin’s Creed Golden Age was the internal name given to Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.  It is not the name of any future Assassin’s Creed title.”

We do know though, there is a new Assassin’s Creed coming in Ubisoft’s upcoming fiscal year (probably this holiday). The company already confirmed a real leak that happened late last year placing the game in Victorian England.

Our Take
With so many people reviewing proofs for a brochure like this before it goes to print, this clearly wasn’t a leak. Ubisoft was quick to clear things up when we asked.
