We Almost Got Official Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Action Figures

by Mike Futter on Feb 12, 2015 at 03:06 AM

Every day, there are stories of missed opportunities in the gaming world. We hear about licenses that could have been shepherded by unexpected developers and games that were canceled before the public was even aware of them (Andrew Reiner’s story about the Darth Maul game among them).

This story caught our attention because it seems like it would have been an easy win. Each day, NECA (a higher end action figure and collectibles company responsible for a recent series of 8-bit homages) fields questions from fans on Twitter.

The company works with movie monsters (Jason from Friday the 13th, for instance), video games (Halo, BioShock Infinite, Borderlands, and others), and other properties. One that slipped through its fingers was a side-project from publisher Ubisoft, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

Rex Power Colt, Colonel Sloan, and even a Blood Dragon itself would have been great additions to gamers’ shelves. Instead, we’ll just have to wonder what could have been. Thanks to custom figure creator Danny Hughes, we can put a visual alongside that wistful thinking.
