Call Of Duty Tops $11 Billion In Revenue

by Matt Miller on Feb 05, 2015 at 09:39 AM

Today’s Activion financial report included new numbers for the long-running Call of Duty franchise. After the success of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Activision claims that the franchise has exceeded $11 billion in revenue since its initial launch in 2003. The numbers are cited based on information from the NPD Group and GfK Chart-Track.

The impressive numbers underline the long-term success of Call of Duty, and indicate that the franchise is still a juggernaut as we move through 2015. The recent release of Advanced Warfare was the top-selling console game of 2014, which makes it the top franchise in North America for six years running.

Our Take
Love it or hate it, Call of Duty continues to be a defining game in the triple-A space. This year’s Advanced Warfare was a move in the right direction for the franchise, allowing for some innovation in setting and tone that is essential if the franchise wants to maintain its place at the top of the hill.
