Rockstar Ships 45 Million Copies Of Grand Theft Auto V, 10 Million On Current-Gen

by Mike Futter on Feb 03, 2015 at 09:45 AM

Take-Two has announced that Grand Theft Auto V keeps on earning big money for the publisher. The title still isn’t even fully released, with the PC version coming in March.

As of December 31, 2014, over 45 million copies of the game have been shipped to retail. Of those, 10 million copies have been shipped for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The PC version is due March 24, 2015. Heists, an eagerly anticipated feature for Grand Theft Auto Online, is still planned for “early 2015.”

Our Take
If there was any doubt about the long-term power of Grand Theft Auto, and the wisdom of re-releasing it on current gen, it should be put to rest now. Even though these are shipped numbers (a softer measure for games than it is for hardware), these are impressive numbers.
