Report: The Marvel Universe As We Know It Is Coming To An End

by Mike Futter on Jan 20, 2015 at 08:48 AM

We’re still wrapping our heads around this one, but it seems that Marvel is planning to use its upcoming Secret Wars event as a reboot. The Marvel Universe as we know it is about to end.

According to Newsarama, casualties will spread beyond the core Marvel Universe. The Ultimate line will come to a close, though that branch of the brand has tapered off in recent years.

When the heroes meet in Battleworld for the Secret Wars, pieces of the Marvel multiverse will make up the landscape. This also means that there will likely be points of merger for the different versions of the characters and, though not terribly uncommon, resurrections, too.

Secret Wars will be an eight-issue run, beginning with an Issue 0 prequel written by Jonathan Hickman. When all’s said and done, there might just be brand new fodder for video games ripped right from the pages of whatever happens after Secret Wars.
