Windows 10 Media Briefing To Be Streamed On January 21, Will Include Gaming News

by Mike Futter on Jan 15, 2015 at 03:40 AM

Next week, Microsoft is holding a Windows 10 media briefing to bring press and consumers up to speed on what’s in store for the next version of the operating system. You’ll be able to watch the event live via stream.

Present on stage will be CEO Satya Nadella, executive vice president of operating systems Terry Myerson, corporate vice president of the operating systems group Joe Belfiore, and head of Xbox Phil Spencer. In December, Spencer said that the event will in part be about gaming on Windows 10.

You can tune into the event via Microsoft’s website. It begins at 9 a.m. Pacific / 12 p.m. Eastern on January 21, with an on-demand version available after the briefing concludes.

Our Take
Microsoft is at the core of most PC gaming experiences, and for too long the company’s name has drifted away from that. Given Spencer’s presence, I expect that gaming on Windows 10 will have some connection to Xbox, even if just in name. As long as this isn’t a repeat of Games for Windows Live, it should be good news.
