Neverwinter Xbox One Closed Beta Announced For Early February

by Mike Futter on Jan 15, 2015 at 05:00 AM

When the Xbox One was announced for release in China, a number of titles for that market were also revealed. One of them, Perfect World’s Neverwinter, is also coming to North America.

Today, the publisher has announced the registrations for an upcoming closed beta are open. You can voice your interest on the game’s website.

The beta will run from February 5 through February 8. When it enters full release, Neverwinter will include some of the content that has already launched in the PC version.

The action-heavy MMORPG is free-to-play, though an Xbox Live Gold membership will be required on Xbox One. Perfect World anticipates that the title will be available widely on the platform early this year. For more on the title, you can check out our "not a review" of it here.

Update: Perfect World reached out to clarify which content will be launching on the Xbox One. According to a representative, the console version will feature all playable classes currently on the PC, as well as the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. Additional material will roll out following the launch.

Our Take
It's been a long time since I've played an official Dungeons & Dragons game, and I'm eager to see if Neverwinter holds my attention. I'm typically wary of free-to-play games, no matter how many I try. Maybe the setting (and its presence on console) will be the right hook for me, though.
