Codename S.T.E.A.M. Welcomes Guest Fighters Via Fire Emblem Amiibos

by Mike Futter on Jan 14, 2015 at 03:25 AM

Nintendo has announced that New 3DS XL owners playing the upcoming Codename S.T.E.A.M. will have the option of bringing some guests into their game. Using the Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina Amiibos, those characters can fight alongside Abraham Lincoln and other historical figures.

The Fire Emblem cast brings its own wrinkle. Those characters can’t be revived at checkpoints, unlike S.T.E.A.M.’s native heroes.

Marth wields his Falchion and can heal teammates and Ike has his sword and battle axe (and an area of attack smash). Robin and Lucina will have moves reminiscent of their titles, too.

As we reported earlier, you’ll get another shot at a Marth Amiibo. He's being re-released later this year. Ike launches in February, and Robin and Lucina hit this Spring.

The title now has a release date. You’ll be able to take on the aliens on March 13 on 3DS and New 3DS. For more, check out a recent hands-on preview.
