Reader Discussion: Have You Ever Sold A Rare Gaming Item For A Profit?

by Mike Futter on Jan 08, 2015 at 05:45 AM

With Nintendo’s Amiibo figures and Gamecube adapter in short supply, we did some investigation about current prices. What we found was a gray market filled with transactions amounting to many times suggested retail price on these items.

There’s money to be made if you make the right gambles (as proven by selling prices on Amiibo auctions). We’re curious if you’ve ever profited off a rare item.

How do you feel about people purchasing just for resale? Do you see a difference between someone selling only one item versus buying up as many as they can?

We’re curious about your feelings on the gray market. Let us know how you feel in the comments.
