Marvel Re-Lists Dark Horse Star Wars Comics Under Its Own Name

by Mike Futter on Jan 08, 2015 at 03:59 AM

Remember last month when we told you that time was running out to get Dark Horse’s Star Wars comics in digital form? It turns out that was only partially true. It was just the last chance to get them with the Dark Horse name and logo.

Marvel today re-listed a number of Dark Horse’s comics via Comixology. These include The Thrawn Legacy, multiple volumes of Star Wars Omnibus, The Empire, and Legacy.

If you browse the Comixology listings, you’ll notice that the Dark Horse name is gone. It’s been replaced with the Marvel logo. This is something we've seen in game packaging before, most recently after THQ's properties were purchased by others, including Deep Silver (Saints Row, Metro) and Nordic Games (Darksiders and many others).

LucasFilm (under Disney’s ownership) announced that the expanded universe (including most of Dark Horse’s decades-long run with the license) was now not considered canon. Marvel is taking over publication of new stories in the universe, which will be considered to be in-step with the movies, recent cartoons (Clone Wars and Rebels), and the upcoming films.

You can peruse the recently re-listed books on Comixology’s website.
